Prepare to lay your eyes on what could perhaps be the most 80s thing you’ve ever seen. We’ve clambered out of a deep (deep) YouTube hole to present you with “How To Do That” – a (criminally) forgotten 1989 electro-pop track recorded by none other than Jean Paul Gaultier, who this week staged a very 60s-inspired couture show which featured a cameo from model Coco Rocha and her mini-me daughter.
Though Gaultier is well-known as the enfant terrible of French fashion, and as Antoine de Caune’s partner-in-crime on Eurotrash, that he also fancied himself as a pop-star might just be brand new infomation to many.
The video for “How To Do That” sees Gaultier sketching away at his desk, waiting for inspiration to strike, as models including a v fresh-faced Naomi Campbell throw some pretty interesting moves – all while wearing classic JPG styles. Breton tops? Button-down military-inspired jackets? Conical bras? Check, check and check.
The track was produced by Tony Mansfield, who was behind (slightly more successful – sorry Jean Paul) hits by a-ha and the B-52s, which should give you an idea as to what to expect, and since we first watched it, it’s pretty safe to say we’ve barely been able to get it out of our heads.

Madonna: Vogue (1990)
“Beauty’s where you find it,” Madonna reminds us in Vogue, her 1990 hit single. The video, shot in chic black and white by David Fincher, helped to bring vogueing from Harlem’s ballroom culture to a much wider audience. Featuring a host of trained dancers against an Art Deco backdrop, Madonna’s video for Vogue represented a seminal turning point in pop culture and style. We see Madonna and her dancers move enigmatically to the music in loose, oversized tailored suits. Several shots recall specific fashion photographs by Horst P. Horst, as in the shots of Madonna posing in an intricate satin corset and in a turban. That famous cone bra corset, as designed by Jean Paul Gaultier and already iconic from its features in the video for Express Yourself, makes an appearance, too, cementing Madonna’s grip on the style of the time.
View Jean Paul Gaultier’s fashion in this famous music video.
Fashion and music have long made comfortable bedfellows. The equation is quite simple: musicians benefit from having a strong look on stage, while designers can increase their cultural cachet by linking themselves with whoever has the coolest sound at the moment. That might sound shallow, but consider the implications of this – music and fashion can fuse together in the format of the music video. While fashion and trends can be ephemeral, changing on a whim and with the seasons, and while even chart-toppers can become one-hit wonders, a well made music video is a vehicle for cultural synthesis.
Here’s the bonus track of today, a song about JPG by Fatal Jamz.
I wish you a successful Tuesday and come back very soon with the next story.
I wish you a happy Monday morning and a successful start into a new week!
The story of today’s about the sister of Victoria’s Secret Angel Lily Aldridge.
RUBY ALDRIDGE
She’s the punky sister to Victoria’s Secret Angel Lily Aldridge and a major model in her own right, having walked hundreds of fashion shows including Calvin Klein, Prada, and Alexander Wang. While she’s been having a resurgence of editorial and runway work lately, Aldridge’s true passion project is DIET CHOKE, her experimental noise rock band (formerly called Texture) taking the New York underground scene by storm.
Ruby Rose Aldridge (born August 26, 1991) is an American fashion model and singer. Over the years of 2008-2012, Ruby Aldridge was the “face” of the brands Coach, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Valentino, and of ck one [Calvin Klein] cosmetics. During the 2011 fall fashion week, Aldridge opened four fashion shows, which placed her, at that time, 7th in terms of the number of these appearances in a given fashion week. As of this date, she has walked in nearly 200 fashion shows, including for such top designers as Alberta Ferretti, Missoni, Sonia Rykiel, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, and others, and has appeared on the covers of Harper’s Bazaar, L’Express Styles, and L’Officiel, and in major magazine spreads in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and in the Vogue editions of several countries (e.g., Italy, the U.S., China, Russia, and Latin America). Ruby Aldridge is the daughter of former Playboy playmate Laura Lyons and artist and graphic designer Alan Aldridge, and younger sister of fashion model Lily Aldridge.
Here’ s a FashionTV “Model Talk” with Ruby.

The story of today’s about an iconic model – musician.
KAREN ELSON
One of the most iconic models of our times, Karen kick started her career by shooting the cover of Italian Vogue with Steven Meisel on her 18th birthday. While she’s been a muse for the industry’s leading photographers and designers, the fiery British redhead remains a musician at heart. She released her debut indie-folk album, The Ghost Who Walks, in 2010. After taking a break for several years, (then marrying and divorcing rock star Jack White), she moved to Nashville and returned with a new record, DOUBLE ROSES, in 2017.
Her list of magazine covers include over 30 international editions of Vogue as well as W, Dazed & Confused, Numéro, British Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Elle, Lula, Foam Magazine and Nylon. In 1998 she won the title of Model of the Year at the VH1 Fashion Awards. Photographed by Steven Meisel, she was presented on the September 2004 cover of American Vogue as one of the “Models of the Moment” In 2005, Elson won the British Fashion Award for Best Model.
In September 2008, Elson was on the cover of British Vogue – shot by Nick Knight – as “Fashion’s Red Queen”. It was then announced that Elson was the new face of British department store John Lewis for autumn/winter 2008/09. In the autumn of 2009 she appeared on billboards internationally for H&M.
Here’s a model portrait by FashionTV, the world’s biggest TV and OTT network dedicated to fashion & lifestyle.
In 2010, American fashion brand St. John announced that Elson would be replacing Angelina Jolie as the new face of their company. In 2011 she was replaced by Kate Winslet. For the Tom Ford 2009 spring eyewear advertising campaigns Elson and male model Jon Kortajarena were photographed, for the first time, by Tom Ford himself.
Elson has appeared in many short films and videos, including the music video for the White Stripes‘s “Blue Orchid“, directed by Floria Sigismondi. She has also appeared in fashion films such as Steven Meisel and Darren Lew’s War Opera, Nick Knight‘s Andy Warhol-inspired series More Beautiful Women, Craig McDean‘s 48 Girls, and Bruce Weber‘s Petit Fleur,Harlequin,Voodoo Daddy,Closer Walk With Thee and Karen’s Boogie(all films were made in conjunction with W as a tribute to New Orleans). Elson has been featured in commercials for Kose cosmetics. She has also appeared in the short film Lay Down Lean, a project by the experimental filmmaking team the Belles of the Black Diamond Field.Lay Down Lean, by the Belles of the Black Diamond Field.
Elson has contributed to Nick Knight‘s fashion site SHOWstudio.com since 2002. She also contributed to Knight‘s project “Moving Fashion” with a black and white video of herself in a sequined gown, perched upon a swing. The images were accompanied by Elson playing the autoharp and singing a verse of Marlene Dietrich‘s “Falling in Love Again.”
In 2010, she modelled a Patricia Field dress for the Sex and the City Archive in the Naomi Campbell‘s Fashion for Relief runway show for the White Ribbon Alliance to raise funds for mothers in Haiti.
On 9 May 2011, it was announced that Elson has designed her own line of shoes, bags and jewellery for fashion brand Nine West. The items became available in the autumn of 2011.
In 2016, she became the face of fragrance brand Jo Malone London and as such represents them worldwide by hosting events.
Music.
Elson is a founding member and performer with the New York-based political cabaret troupe the Citizens Band, appearing with them at various theatres as well as the downtown art gallery Deitch Projects since 2004. Critical response to Elson’s performances have been unequivocally positive, with the press frequently commenting on her striking vocal skills. As one of the leaders of the Citizens Band she has performed a variety of songs including covers of the Velvet Underground, Kurt Weill, Elvis Presley, Mimi and Richard Fariña, Pete Seeger, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young and Marlene Dietrich. She has also written and co-written songs for the troupe’s performances. Her cover of the Velvet Underground‘s “Candy Says” is available on the Citizen Band’s MySpace page. Short samples of her performances are available on the troupe’s website as well.
Elson’s musical career built slowly over the course of several years. In 2003 she contributed backing vocals to a remix of Robert Plant‘s “Last Time I Saw Her” from Plant’s album Dreamland. In 2005 a personal recording of Elson singing was made available on a CD accompanying the August 2005 issue of Uncutmagazine (the song was titled “Coming Down”). The song was chosen by REM singer Michael Stipe. In 2006 she dueted with Cat Power on a provocative cover version of “I Love You (Me Either)” for Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited, a tribute album to French singer/songwriter Serge Gainsbourg.
Her first full-length album was written, for the most part, in secret without letting her (then) husband Jack White hear what she was doing. “At home I would hide—I would play my songs really in isolation. I would lock the bathroom door and hide. Eventually he was like, ‘Why are you hiding this from me?'” In February 2010, it was announced that Elson would be releasing her debut solo album The Ghost Who Walks, produced by Jack White. News of the album’s release was made by a live acoustic performance video “The Ghost Who Walks (Acoustic)” posted on the internet. The album was released on Third Man Records via XL Recordings in May 2010. It received generally favourable reviews. Spin magazine gave it 7/10 and compared her voice to both Jenny Lewisand Loretta Lynn.
On 2 September 2010, Elson and her band performed on the Late Show with David Letterman. The fourth season of HBO TV series, True Blood, featured Elson’s cover of “Season of the Witch” over the credits of the episode “If You Love Me, Why am I Dyin’?”. The thirteenth episode of Fringe Season 4, “A Better Human Being” featured Karen’s song “The Ghost Who Walks”.
In September 2012, she was featured in a campaign called “30 Songs / 30 Days” to support Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, a multi-platform media project inspired by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn’s book In October 2013, Elson opened for Neko Case for eight concerts on Case’s North American tour.
In 2015, Elson revealed she had started working on her second album due for release in 2016. On 10 January 2017, the album’s title Double Roses and its release date of 7 April 2017, was announced.
I wish you a beautiful Sunday and come back very soon with a new story.
I wish you a very happy Friday morning, weekend begins.
My story of today’s about Heidi Klum, a Victoria’ s Secret Angel who’ s exceptional talents made her rock the runway, the stage, the TV screens, the fashion business and even the film theaters.
In this film scene a short appearance of Heidi Klum.
In May 2011, Forbes magazine estimated Klum’s total earnings for that year as US$20 million. She was ranked second on Forbes‘ list of the “World’s Top-Earning Models”. Forbes noted that since ending her 13-year run as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, Klum has become more of a businesswoman than a model. In 2008, she became an American citizen while maintaining her native German citizenship.
I wish you a beautiful Friday and come back with a new story.
P.S.: And here’s the bonus track of today!
One of my all time favorite songs.
Grace Beverly Jones (born 19 May 1948) is a Jamaican-Americansupermodel, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. Born in Jamaica, she moved when she was 13, along with her siblings, to live with her parents in Syracuse, New York. Jones began her modelling career in New York state, then in Paris, working for fashion houses such as Yves St. Laurent and Kenzo, and appearing on the covers of Elle and Vogue. She worked with photographers such as Jean-Paul Goude, Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, and Hans Feurer, and became known for her distinctive androgynous appearance and bold features.
Jones appeared in some low-budget films in the US during the 1970s and early 1980s. In 1984, she made her first mainstream appearance as Zula in the fantasy-action film Conan the Destroyer alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sarah Douglas,.
Today I´d like to write a story about one of the most multi-talented woman in the world.
Beyoncé was born & raised in Houston, Texas. Her father, Mathew Knowles, manages Destiny’s Child. Her mother, Tina Knowles designs their glittering costumes. Solange, her sister (they’re about 5 years apart), has released her debut album. She dances with her big sister during DC-3 concerts. Beyoncé is of Louisiana Creolean & African descent.
Beyoncé & Fashion
Every musician has merch, but Beyoncé and Jay-Z take everything to that next level. Currently enjoying a break in Nice after two sold-out dates in Paris for their On the Run II tour, the power couple used their time off to show some unique concert keepsakes. Beyoncé stepped out in a Sonic Youth x Jay-Z shirt from Uneek Basement featuring the album sleeves from their respective seminal releases, “Goo” and “Reasonable Doubt.” Paired with lace-up cutoffs from Coal N Terry vintage and a pair of oversize earrings from Messika, the outfit was the right combination of sexy and casual. Beyoncé completed her outfit with a gray bandana worn as a headband that matched Jay-Z’s navy kerchief. In a Gucci menswear blouse covered in a map of the world, the star continued his bohemian fashion reinvention without taking any attention away from his wife’s sultry look.
The Carters have made a habit of dressing in sync, but their latest choices prove they have a sense of humor when it comes to fashion. Though they could be foreshadowing a future project, as of right now, grunge icons Sonic Youth have yet to collaborate with Jay-Z or Beyoncé. While the idea of a Beyoncé meets Kim Gordon moment seems slightly far-fetched, the fictional mashup made for a compelling style statement.
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, born September 4, 1981 is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, actress, and businesswoman. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as lead singer of the R&Bgirl-groupDestiny’s Child. Managed by her father, Mathew Knowles, the group became one of the world’s best-selling girl groups in history. Their hiatus saw Beyoncé’s theatrical film debut in Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002) and the release of her debut album, Dangerously in Love (2003). The album established her as a solo artist worldwide, earned five Grammy Awards, and featured the Billboard Hot 100 number one singles “Crazy in Love” and “Baby Boy“.
Beyoncé took a hiatus from music in 2010 and took over management of her career; her fourth album 4 (2011) was subsequently mellower in tone, exploring 1970s funk, 1980s pop, and 1990s soul. Her critically acclaimed eponymous album, released in 2013 with no prior announcement, was distinguished from previous releases by its experimental production and exploration of darker themes. Her sixth album, Lemonade (2016), also received widespread critical acclaim, with many referring to it as her most personal work to date, and subsequently became the best-selling album of 2016.
She released her seventh album, a collaboration with husband Jay-Z as The Carters entitled Everything Is Love in 2018.
Throughout her solo career, Beyoncé has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making her one of the world’s best-selling music artists. She has won 22 Grammy Awards and is the most nominated woman in the award’s history. She is also the most awarded artist at the MTV Video Music Awards, with 24 wins, including the Video Vanguard Award. The Recording Industry Association of America recognized Beyoncé as the Top Certified Artist in America, during the 2000s decade. In 2009, Billboard named her the Top Radio Songs Artist of the Decade, the Top Female Artist of the 2000s decade, and awarded her their Millennium Award in 2011. In 2014, she became the highest-paid black musician in history and was listed among Time‘s 100 most influential people in the world for a second year in a row. Forbes ranked her as the most powerful female in entertainment on their 2015 and 2017 lists, and in 2016 she occupied the sixth place for Time‘s Person of the Year. With the release of Lemonade, Beyoncé became the first and only musical act in Billboard chart history to debut at number one with their first six solo studio albums.
Please enjoy the middle of the week and stay connected.
This morning I found something very special for you on YouTube:
An illustrated version of Genesis’ song “Supper’s Ready” off their album “Foxtrot” (1972),
when Peter Gabriel was their exalted front man and Phil Collins was playing the drums.
Later Collins kicked out Gabriel of the band and started a lifelong career by imitating
Peter Gabriel’s voice, but never could reach the extraordinary rich colors of his rule model’s
vocals.
Peter Gabriel returned to the music scene a few years later and became one of the most important
living music and video artists, performing with Sting, Sinead O’Connor, Kate Bush and many other
legends of music.
A fantastic music comic made by the extraordinary artist Nathaniel Barlam.
And here’ s “Supper’s Ready” live ft. Peter Gabriel dressed as a flower.
Behind his drums Phil Collins.
I wish you a very nice weekend. Tomorrow morning I’ll be in Porto Santos / Madeira / Portugal and
I’ll be back on Monday with a new story.
The story of today’s about DJ Superstar Paul Kalkbrenner.
WHO IS PAUL KALKBRENNER?
Paul Kalkbrenner, one of techno’s biggest superstars. This international talent has already made 7 studio albums and has more than 2.4 million Facebook fans.
The impressive artist started as a DJ in local youth clubs. But as much fun as that was, Paul really wanted to play his own music live. Eventually, his first tracks were released on Ellen Allien’s BPitch control label in 1999. From the beginning, his music had its own character. Where techno was more dark and monotone at that time, Paul’s music was melodic and warmer.
In addition to being a famous artist, he has also made his debut as an actor. You may have seen him as Icarus, in the film ‘Berlin Calling’ that came out in 2008. He also produced the music for the film, together with his brother Fritz. Together, they have written and produced the title song, Sky And Sand, which was a real hit.
KALKBRENNER & SPORTSWEAR
Have you ever noticed that Paul Kalkbrenner often wears a sports shirt when he’s performing? Sports shirts really have become a characteristic of Paul Kalkbrenner. His fans even bring them to his performances.
Paul Kalkbrenner was one of the many artists to produce music for FIFA 17. The music is selected in a way that you may find a new favorite artist. If you’re a real FIFA player, you must have heard Paul Kalkbrenner’s “Scream”.
And here’s Fritz and Paul Kalbrenner’s biggest success, “Sky & Sand”.
Here’ s Paul Kalkbrenner’s “Feed Your Head” – 12,5 Million YouTube views.
I wish you a successful Wednesday and come back after tomorrow with a new story
If we have a look at the music played at the runway shows and after parties of international fashion weeks Paris, Milan, London, N.Y., Miami, everywhere around the world, one famous name shows up in all programs: Bob Sinclar, himself a fan of DSQUARED2.
Christophe Le Friant began DJing in the 1980s under the name Chris the French Kiss. During this time he was more influenced by hip-hop and jazz music and created music projects such as The Mighty Bop and Reminiscence Quartet, this one with an ensemble of musicians. Le Friant used the alias Desmond K in the Reminiscence Quartet.
Le Friant adopted the new name of Bob Sinclar in 1998 (hero from the film Le Magnifique). He became known for popularising the “French touch” of house music with heavy use of sampled and filtered disco strings. He describes his musical style as inspired by “peace, love, and house music”. Several of Sinclar’s songs have become international hits, being particularly popular in Europe. Some of his most popular hits include “Love Generation” (with Gary Pine) and “World, Hold On (Children of the Sky)” (featuring Steve Edwards). In 2006, Bob Sinclar received the TMF Award Best Dance International (Belgium).
Here’s Bob Sinclar with Supermodel Gisele Buendchen performimg the song “Heart Of Glass”.

“2U” is the third collaborative single for Bieber in 2017 following “I’m the One” and “Despacito“, both of which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and other national charts.
Guetta announced that there would be two music videos for the single; the Victoria Secret version and another version which he calls “not branded”. The first version features Victoria Secret’s models Sara Sampaio, Romee Strijd, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Stella Maxwell and Martha Hunt lip-syncing the song while on-set of a photo shoot for the lingerie brand. The second music video was released on 29 September 2017 on YouTube.
Here’ s the music video with lip sync Victoria’s Secret Angels.
