One of the biggest talents of the last decades is Alanis Morissette.

Life
From 1977 to 1981 Morissette lived with her family in Heiligenzell in the Black Forest. Her father, a native of Franko Ontarier Alan Richard Morissette, and her Hungarian mother Georgia Mary Ann Feuerstein taught children of soldiers stationed in Germany at the Canadian military base in Lahr. She has an older brother and a twin brother. In 1981 the family moved back to Ottawa.

In February 2005, Morissette also received US citizenship. From 2002 to 2007 she and Ryan Reynolds were a couple. Previously, she was inter alia with the actors Dash Mihok and Dave Coulier, from which she separated in 1993, liiert.

On May 22, 2010, she married in Los Angeles six years younger rapper Souleye, whose real name is Mario Treadway. The two had already been a couple for eight months. On December 25, 2010, a son was born, on June 23, 2016, a daughter. From 1996 to 2017 she lived in Brentwood.

Career start
When Morissette saw a performance by the folk duo Lindsay and Jacqui Morgan at the age of nine, she was so excited that she wanted to do it for them. After recording one of her self-written songs on cassette, Lindsay Morgan, who was a friend of her parents, recorded accompanying music and enabled her to sing the song in the studio. Morissette made her first acting experiences in 1984 through the Canadian children’s program You Can not Do That on Television. The money she earned from the production, she invested in her first single Fate Stay with Me.

Under the name Alanis Nadine she appeared in 1990 in the US talent show Star Search, but retired in the first round. Their first album appeared in 1991 under the name Alanis to prevent a possible confusion with the Canadian singer Alannah Myles. The first single, Too Hot, reached # 14 on the Canadian charts. She was nominated for the Juno Awards in three categories: Single of the Year, Best Dance Record and Most Promising Female Vocalist; in the latter she could win. Their second album Now Is The Time, which was published in 1992 by MCA, could not build on the success of its predecessor.

Successes
In 1995, at the age of 21, Morissette released her first international album Jagged Little Pill, which had great success. With the former, she claims to have tried to relate to a man of about 30 years old when she was 14 years old. While the verses reflect the view of the lover at that time, the refrain contains Morissette’s answer from the present. [17] December saw the release of Feast on Scraps, a DVD / CD package featuring a concert recording from Rotterdam and eight songs that were not used in the Under Rug Swept recordings.

Another big talent of the last years is Aura Dione.

Life
Aura Dione is the daughter of a Faroese-French music teacher and her Danish-Spanish male. Through her parents, who met at the Roskilde music festival, she got in touch early with music, literature and art, for example, she wrote her first song at the age of five. Aura’s father collects guitars, which also influenced her music career.

Her parents were hippies and sailed with her across the oceans until, when Aura was seven years old, she settled on the Danish Baltic Sea island of Bornholm, where she also attended school. As a 17-year-old, she went to Australia to continue her musical education. There she wrote many works, which were influenced among other things by the Australian Aborigines. This encounter was later reflected in the song Something from Nothing. During this time Dione changed her concept for the music. She designs almost all her clothes, record covers and videos herself.

In 2008 she released under the label Music for Dreams in Denmark as the first single Something from Nothing, followed by Song for Sophie and I Will Love You Monday. Universal Music Domestic Pop (“UDP”), a subsidiary of Universal Music, became aware of Aura Dione and signed her. Her first single outside Denmark, I Will Love You Monday (365), was released on November 13, 2009 in Germany. Compared to the version of the song published in Denmark, the debut single contains its own chorus in German-speaking countries. The title made it right in the top 10 and finally even at number 1 in the German single charts and at number 1 on the German airplay charts. Diones debut album Columbine was released on November 27, 2009 in Germany. I Will Love You Monday reached platinum status in Germany. The second single, Song for Sophie, stayed in the German charts for a total of 22 weeks. On October 29, the third single released from the album, Something from Nothing. However, this could not build on the success of its predecessors.

Aura Dione at “Kufstein Unlimited 2012”
On October 21, 2011 Geronimo was released as the first single of the second album called Before the Dinosaurs. Aura has written the platinum-winning number one hit with David Jost, who also produced the single. Geronimo reached # 1 in her homeland, making her her most successful single in Denmark so far. In Germany, the song reached immediately after publication number 1 in the Media Control Charts. Aura Dione is the second Danish act after Gitte Hænning, who managed to place two number-one hits in Germany.

Her second single, Friends, was written by Aura with David Jost and the American producer and songwriting team Rock Mafia. It reached the top 10 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark and achieved gold status in Germany with over 150,000 units sold.

The third single from the album is In Love with the World, which could reach # 5 in Denmark, where it was released on May 28. On September 28, 2012, the single also appeared in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The single climbed to # 59 in Germany and # 38 in Austria. In Switzerland, the single could not yet place in the charts. The video was meanwhile presented on MyVideo on September 19.

On May 19, 2017, the third album “Can’t Steal The Music” was released. All 4 single releases as well as the album could not be placed anywhere in the charts.

My story of today I´ll finish with the mother of all female cocal artists of the present times,

I wish you a very happy Saturday and I´´ ll be back tomorrow with the second part of my story about great femake voices,

Kate Bush, CBE (born July 30, 1958 in Bexleyheath, Kent (now London), actually Catherine Bush) is a British singer, pianist, songwriter and music producer. Her most popular songs include Wuthering Heights, Babooshka and Running Up That Hill.

Childhood and youth
Catherine Bush was born in 1958 as the third child of Robert John Bush and Hannah Daly. The father was a registered doctor, the mother nurse, the two married in 1943. Bush has two older brothers, John Carder Bush (* 1944) and Patrick (Paddy) Bush (* 1952). She grew up with her family on a farm in Welling, Kent. The family was artistically interested; her brother John wrote and published poems; the Irish mother of Waterford, she inspired Irish folklore and Irish music; the father played a lot of piano. The family organized regular house music evenings on the farm, in the Catherine was involved early on. From 1963 to 1969 she attended the local elementary school. From 1969 to 1975 she attended the Catholic convent school Saint Joseph’s Grammar School in Bexley. She started playing the piano in 1966, took part in violin lessons at the school from 1969, and took singing lessons. In 1970 she began to write her own poems and to set these to music. One of these early works is the single published many years later The Man with the Child in His Eyes.

Career
Her brother John made Bush known in 1973 with David Gilmour, the guitarist of the band Pink Floyd. Gilmour recognized her talent and henceforth promoted her career. Gilmour recorded with Bush several demo tapes in the AIR Studios with the sound engineer Geoff Emerick and the producer and arranger Andrew Powell. In June 1975, Gilmour introduced Bob Mercer of EMI, the record label that also signed Pink Floyd, to the demo tapes. In July 1976, EMI signed a deal with just-18-year-old Bush for an initial four years. Bush moved from rural Welling to Lewisham to the outskirts of London, where his father owned a house that was already inhabited by the two brothers. In 1976 she visited the Performance Flowers of the British dancer Lindsay Kemp and took six months of dance lessons with him. She continued her dance education with Arlene Phillips. At the same time she worked on the composition of songs for an album. Her brother Paddy made a band together. Formed as KT Bush Band, the band consisted of Del Palmer (bass), Brian Bath (guitar) and Vic Smith (drums) and gave Bush the opportunity to gain first stage experience with cover versions in small pubs and bars from April 1977 onwards.

Early Work – The Productions with Andrew Powell (1977-1979)
In July 1977 began in the AIR Studios, the seven-week recordings for the debut album The Kick Inside, which appeared in early 1978. Bush and Andrew Powell, who had already produced the demo recordings, chose the songs and put together a band of session musicians for the recordings. The band consisted of members of the Alan Parsons Project: Ian Bairnson (guitar), David Paton (bass), Stuart Elliott (drums) and Duncan Mackay (keyboards). As a sound engineer, Jon Kelly supervised the recordings. With The Saxophone Song and The Man with the Child in His Eyes, the album contained two of Gilmour and Powell produced 1975 recordings.

In November 1977, first graduation copies of Wuthering Heights were distributed to British radio stations. On January 20, 1978, the single and on February 17, 1978, the album was released. On February 9, 1978 Bush introduced her single together with the KT Bush Band (with Charlie Morgan on drums) in the first show of the ARD program Bio’s station and was also known in German-speaking countries. Shortly thereafter, she also appeared in the British pop program Top of the Pops on. The single climbed to the top of the British singles charts on March 7, reaching # 3 in April. In the German music charts, the single reached # 11 and the album # 21. Bush was the first female English solo artist to do so in the UK succeeded with a self-composed debut. The press coverage, however, was divided; It was hard for the press to classify Bush’s single and album because there was hardly anything like it. As a second single appeared in late May 1978 The Man with the Child in His Eyes and reached in June 6th place in the UK Top 40.

In July 1978, at the urging of EMI, Bush began recording the second album Lionheart at the Sunbear Studios in Nice with the KT Bush Band, again with Powell as producer and arranger. Powell continued during the recording that again the session musicians of the first album were used, so that some of the already recorded with Palmer, Bath and Morgan titles were recorded or supplemented with Bairnson, Paton and Elliott. The album was completed after ten weeks and released in November 1978. As the first single of the new album Hammer Horror was released on October 27, 1978, but did not reach the top 40 in rank 44. On November 13 followed the album, which reached # 6 British and # 25 on the German album charts. Only in March 1979 released single Wow placed with 14th place in the British charts as good as the two singles of the debut album. EMI urged Bush on a tour. The Tour of Life tour included 29 appearances in Europe in six weeks in April and May 1979 and remained their only tour, although they later gave concerts.

Artistic Development (1979-1982)
Bush founded 1978 with Novercia Holdings Ltd. a management company and with Kate Bush Music Publishing Ltd. her own publishing company because she did not agree with EMI’s insistence on the fast production of a second album and the tour. The two companies, headed by Bush and other family members, were to better represent their artistic and economic interests. A first sign of greater independence from EMI put her on the production of Live EP On Stage, a concert recording of the Tour of Life performance at Hammersmith Odeon on May 13, 1979. Bush produced the only authorized live recording itself.

The third album Never for Ever was written between autumn 1979 and June 1980 and was recorded at Abbey Road Studios from January to June 1980. Bush produced himself with Jon Kelly as co-producer. She wanted to incorporate new ideas into the production, which she had observed during the recording of Peter Gabriel’s (third) solo album Peter Gabriel (melt) as a background singer. The musical direction is changing on this album through the use of synthesizers and drum machines, which supplanted the arrangements of Powell. The Fairlight CMI as a compositional tool plays a special role and should influence Bush’s entire other compositions. While Bush was still composing piano during the creation of Never for Ever, initial arrangements have already been made with this computer music instrument. Brother Paddy became more involved in production with his knowledge of some pop-atypical instruments. Breathing was released as the album’s first single on April 14, 1980, followed by Babooshka on June 27, before releasing the album on September 8. Army Dreamers released a third single on September 22nd. The singles placed well in the British Top 40, Babooshka reached Germany in 14th place. With the album she reached the top of the charts in her home country and 5th place in Germany.

In August 1980, Bush began in a set up on the farm of her parents studio with new compositions for the September 1982 published album The Dreaming. She explained to Richard James Burgess how synthesizers and samplers work and how to program the Fairlight CMI. The recordings for the new album began in May 1981 in the London Townhouse Studios with Hugh Padgham as a sound engineer. After three songs Padgham had to cancel because of schedule reasons, because he was working at the same time with Genesis on the album Abacab, and recommended the twenty-year-old Nick Launay. Within three months, the instrumental tracks were recorded, including a Didgeridoopart by Rolf Harris. EMI pushed for the release of a single, so that in June 1981 Sat was released in Your Lap. The single reached # 11 in the UK Top 40. Following the release of the single, Bush continued to produce the album at Abbey Road Studios with Haydn Bendall as the sound engineer and completed the instrumental recordings. For Night of the Swallow, the Irish instruments were recorded with musicians from Planxty and the Chieftains at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin. Overdubs and vocal recordings were recorded at Odyssey Studios in London with Paul Hardiman as an engineer.

The album was mixed in January 1982 in five months in the Advision studios. The single The Dreaming was released in late July 1982. Shortly before the release of the single, Bush debuted on 21 July 1982 at the London Dominion Theater as part of a concert for The Prince’s Trust with The Wedding List. She was accompanied by an Allstar band with Phil Collins on drums, Mick Karn on bass, Gary Brooker on keyboard, and Pete Townshend and Midge Ure on guitars. The album was released on September 13, 1982 and reached # 3 in the UK and # 21 in the German album charts. On the other hand, the singles released from The Dreaming could not place in either the UK Top 40 or the German charts.

International Success (1983-1993)
EMI rated The Dreaming as a commercial failure due to the high cost of studio rents in relation to revenues. Bush withdrew from the public and moved her residence from London to a cottage on the Sussex coast. To compensate for the losses, EMI published in December 1983, the compilation The Single File and a video cassette of the same name.

In September 1983, Bush began composing new songs. Bush was initially heavily criticized by EMI because she wanted to produce the next album again. Only through the expansion of the demo studio to a professional 48-track studio on the family farm in late 1983 gave EMI because of the loss of studio costs. Bush and Palmer began demo recordings for a new album called Hounds of Love in January 1984, which were gradually overdubbed and further developed with additional arrangements. First, Bush made all traces of the Fairlight. In the early stages of development, Del Palmer acted as a sound engineer and programmed rhythms at LinnDrum. Thereafter, real instruments were recorded with Haydn Bendall at the mixing console, primarily to replace the electronically generated rhythms. The drum parts were recorded by Stuart Elliott and Charlie Morgan (also Bodhrán and Lambeg). On bass, the German jazz bassist Eberhard Weber, Del Palmer, Danny Thompson and Youth of Killing Joke were used, on the guitar Alan Murphy and Brian Bath. Numerous Irish instruments were recorded again at Windmill Lane Studios under the direction of Bill Whelan. In addition to Liam O’Flynn (Uilleann Pipes) and Dónal Lunny (Bouzouki, Bodhrán) of Planxty also John Sheahan of the Dubliners at the Tin Whistle and the Fiddle were used. Paddy Bush took over the Eastern European instruments Balalaika and Fujara, the Australian didgeridoo and a violin. For the song Cloudbusting, the Medici sextet was used to record a string motif arranged by Dave Lawson and dominating the song. Other orchestral arrangements are by Michael Kamen. The Richard Hickox Singers contributed a choral motif to Hello Earth. The recordings were completed in June 1984, but it should take another year before all overdubs were recorded and the album was mixed by Brian Tench.

On August 5, 1985 Running Up That Hill was released on the initiative of EMI under this title as a single; Bush had earmarked as A Deal with God, but with God in the title, EMI feared that the single would not be played on American radio and MTV. On September 16, the album followed. The single placed well in the European charts and could also reach 30th place in the Billboard Hot 100. As a result, the album placed well not only in Europe, so that with Cloudbusting, the title track Hounds of Love and The Big Sky until the summer of 1986, three other singles were decoupled, all of which ranked in the UK Top 40 and the German music charts could. The album was awarded a platinum record in Germany and double platinum in Bush’s homeland, marking the commercial breakthrough for Kate Bush in North America. A part of the success is certainly due to the A & R manager at EMI, David Munns, who approved the funds for the much more elaborately produced videos. Noteworthy is the video for Cloudbusting, in which the Canadian actor and later Golden Globe winner Donald Sutherland plays along.

The music press celebrated Hounds of Love as a big comeback. EMI and Munns pushed in the wake of commercial success on a best-of album. Bush agreed on condition that it be implemented this time in a “tasteful way” (Bush). For the album, Bush re-recorded her voice for Wuthering Heights and composed a new song with Experiment IV. The compilation titled The Whole Story was released in November 1986, a month after the release of Do not Give Up, a duet with Peter Gabriel. The album reached number 11 in Germany and was awarded a Golden Record. In their homeland, the album reached the top of the charts and a triple platinum certification. Experiment IV with Nigel Kennedy on the violin was released as a single and gave Bush the fourth UK Top 40 hit in a year. EMI also released The Whole Story as a video album.

In 1986, Kate Bush sang in a duet with Rowan Atkinson the humorous song Do Bears … at the charity event Comic Relief. The piece, which was created with the participation of Howard Goodall, criticized by the means of pop music, the heroization of certain notions of love in pop music. It appeared on the album Comic Relief Presents Utterly Utterly Live on the label WEA Records (No. 240 932-1).

In the summer of 1988 it was announced that she had worked on a new album and the Bulgarian vocal trio Bulgarka had committed to this. At this time, most songs were for The Sensual World already written. Bush recorded the three Eastern European singers in October 1988 at the London Angel Studios. In addition to the trio and the previous studio musicians played Nigel Kennedy and David Gilmour guest appearances. Kevin Killen, whom Bush met during her duet with Peter Gabriel, mixed the album. EMI released the title track The Sensual World on September 18, 1989 as a single. On October 16, followed by the album, from which in November 1989 with This Woman’s Work (from the soundtrack to She is having a Baby) and in February 1990 with Love and Anger two more singles were decoupled. All singles were also placed in the UK Top 40 and The Sensual World in the German music charts. The album had good results worldwide and was awarded a platinum record in the UK.

In the late 1980s, the music format Compact Disc became more and more popular. EMI therefore decided to release all the albums Bush released so far in this format as well. The label decided in 1990 to bring an 8-CD box set on the market. The title was based on the single This Woman’s Work.

In November 1993, the seventh studio album The Red Shoes was released after four years break. It included twelve titles and also served as a musical accompaniment to Bush’s film debut in The Line, The Cross and the Curve.

Since 1994
After Kate Bush had retired after the release of The Red Shoes from the music business, followed in the fall of 2005, the double album Aerial. Remarkable is the time interval of twelve years to the previous album – in this time Kate Bush had become a mother and had taken care of her private life mainly.

Her album Director’s Cut, a compilation of alternative versions of the album’s tracks The Sensual World and The Red Shoes, was released in May 2011. On November 18, 2011, the album 50 Words for Snow was released. It consists of seven titles dealing with the subject of snow. Besides some well-known artists like Elton John and Stephen Fry, Kate’s son Albert McIntosh also sings in a song.

On March 21, 2014, she announced her first concert series since 1979 on her homepage. From August to October 2014, 22 concerts titled Before the Dawn took place in London. The concerts were sold out within 15 minutes. In November 2016, a recording of the concerts was published.

Musical style
Kate Bush’s style includes influences from classical music, artrock, glam, jazz and various ethnic, especially Irish-Celtic and Southeast European sources. A hallmark that runs through her whole work is the uniform repetition of certain musical elements, such as drum loops or other short motifs. Kate Bush’s works in the 1980s are attributed to the then New Wave or New Romantic wave.

Bush writes her own songs, plays piano and synthesizer, as well as violin and guitar. She produces her albums and directed most of her videos. Kate Bush often uses unusual instruments such as didgeridoo, balalaika and clavichord. She was one of the first artists to use samples in pop music.

In addition to her preference for fancy costumes, she has found a form of fusion of song, dance and music for her live performances. In addition, she made the music fairy tale film The Line, the Cross & the Curve, inspired by the movie The Red Shoes (1948).

Private
